SUMMARY:2026 Pharmabiotics Conference
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Pharmabiotic Research Institute is delighted to invite you to join us for the 2026 edition of the Pharmabiotics Conference\, the Microbiome Conference of Development & Regulation (D&R)\, taking place in Brussels on February 3–5\, 2026.Now in its 10th edition\, Pharmabiotics is one of Europe’s oldest and most established microbiome meetings. Over more than a decade\, it has earned trust by centering development and regulation\, and by turning real regulatory journeys into practical case studies that move the field forward.Four D’s\, one R: \nDevelopment: Translating microbiome science into real-world products. \nDirection: Offering Regulatory compass points in a space that still lacks official guidelines. \nDialogue: A unique platform where researchers\, developers\, regulators\, and industry share their journeys. The conference fosters peer-to-peer exchange while also opening direct dialogue with those writing\, interpreting\, and implementing the rules that will define the next chapter of microbiome innovation. \nDisruption: Showcasing how microbiome science is reshaping health\, food systems\, and sustainability. \nBehind the conference stands the Pharmabiotic Research Institute (PRI)\, Europe’s Microbiome Regulatory Science Center. PRI is an independent non profit\, recognized as a stakeholder with key EU institutions\, and supported by the largest microbiome network in Europe.  \nFor more details…

SUMMARY:1st WG1 INFOGUT Community Webinar
DESCRIPTION:In vitro Colonic fermentation: hype or hope? \nSpeaker 1 \nDr. Katia Sivieri Professor \nDepartment of Food and Nutrition\, Laboratory Study of Probiotics and Prebiotics\, Faculty of PharmaceuticalSciences of Araraquara\, UNESP-Paulista State University\, Araraquara\, Sâo Paulo\, Brazil. \nAbstract 1\nIn vitro colonic fermentation is a valuable tool for studying gut microbiota behavior and metabolite productionunder controlled conditions. While it offers important insights into diet— microbiota interactions\, limitations such asthe lack of host—microbe interactions remain. This talk evaluates whether these models represent real promise orrequire cautious interpretation for predicting in vivo outcomes. \nSpeaker background 1\nDr. Katia Sivieri is an expert in gut microbiota\, in vitro digestion and colonic fermentation models\, with over 15years of research experience. Her work bridges basic and translational science\, focusing on probiotics\, prebiotics\, bioactive compounds\, and microbiota—host interactions. She has led numerous academic and industry-driven projects\, contributing significantly to personalized nutrition and gut health research. \nTitle 2\nUtilizing high-throughput in vitro human fecal fermentation models to identify dietary inhibitors of gut bacterialtrimethylamine production \nSpeaker 2\nDr. Andrew P. Neilson Professor \nPlants for Human Health Institute\, Department of Food\, Nutrition and Bioprocessing Sciences\, North CarolinaState University\, Kannapolis\, North Carolina\, USA \nAbstract 2\nElevated blood trimethylamine /\/-oxide (TMAO) levels are a risk factor for atherosclerosis development. The firststep in the TMAO pathway is release of trimethylamine (TMA) from dietary quaternary amines substrates by gutbacteria expressing TMA lyases. We have developed high-throughput human fecal fermentation models to studyinhibition of TMA production by dietary phenolics. \nSpeaker background 2\nDr. Neilson is a Professor at North Carolina State University. Dr. Neilson’s research focuses on interactions between dietary bioactives and the gut microbiome.. He is an associate editor for the journal Food & Function and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK).
